Isoplus Review

In this post, I'm reviewing 3 Isoplus products to see how they aid me in my straightening process to help combat my usual dryness when flat ironing my hair. The products include, Coconut Oil with Ylang Ylang, Tea Tree & Aloe Conditioner, and 24-7 Leave-In Conditioner. You can find more info on each product by visiting the link on each name. And you can check out other Isoplus products, here.

I have 3a/3b, normal-low porosity, low density, fine curls. Here is my hair before, using the products on day 3 hair.

First, I used the Tea Tree conditioner and the Coconut oil prior to shampooing with my normal sulfate shampoo.

I used the tea tree as a scalp conditioner to prevent the usual scalp dryness I get when washing with a sulfate shampoo and straightening. I parted my hair and applied the conditioner to my scalp in sections.

I used the coconut oil as a pre-poo on the length of my hair to infuse moisture, protect my hair from the sulfate shampoo, and to strengthen my hair before straightening. I was sure to coat my ends for the best protection for the most needy part of my hair.

I left in the products for about 1 hour then proceeded to wash and deep condition my hair as usual. I noticed much less breakage after I rinsed the shampoo out. Usually my hair would feel stripped and rough but not this time. I'll usually experience a lot of breakage when trying to apply conditioner but that was reduced to a few broken hairs.

After rinsing out the deep conditioner, I let my hair get mostly dry then I sprayed in the 24-7 Leave-In to used it as a heat protectant and moisturizer. I then went on to straighten my hair and I finished with silky, shiny, soft hair. :)

Overall Review

  • Coconut Oil with Ylang Ylang

I can definitely smell the ylang ylang in this and it smells nice, not too overwhelming but noticeable. The consistency feels like a grease/oil product would and it applies smoothly and is easy to coat any part of your hair. I love this as a sealer for my ends and I would have used it on my scalp if coconut oil didn't irritate my scalp. When sealing my ends, this absorbs easily and doesn't weight down my hair or look to greasy. It didn't seem to attract as much lint as I expected, which is great. I also used this on someones braids to moisturize the hair and scalp and it made their braids look shiny and their scalp looked healthy and moisturized.

  • Tea Tree & Aloe

This has a very nice, light scent and also has a grease/oil consistency. This was very easy to apply to scalp and it coated easily without needing too much. I loved this for my scalp. I've always had very dry scalp and this helped a bunch. My scalp didn't feel clogged and my hair didn't feel weighed down or dirty after a few days. I usually have a problem with itching and this did away with that, thanks to the tea tree and aloe. A lot of scalp treatments can irritate my scalp and cause a psoriasis flare up but this didn't irritate me at all. It was very soothing and added much needed shine to my roots.

  • 24/7 Leave-In
This leave-in has a nice soapy smell and a thin, watery consistency. It sprays out evenly onto hair without leaving a sticky feeling and doesn't even weigh down my super fine hair. It's super light and it added moisture to my hair without making it hard. It made my hair feel soft and fluffy. This is great to use as a heat protectant or under another product.

New Dove Quench Line

Thanks to the Naturally Curly review program, I got to test out 4 new, full size products (for free!) by Dove which include; Quench Absolute Shampoo, Quench Absolute Conditioner, Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask, and Quench Absolute Supreme Creme Serum. This line is specially formulated for curly hair and is made to infuse moisture into our naturally dry curls. You can also check out the line on Dove's website, here.

I have 3a/3b, low-normal porosity, fine, waist length(stretched) curls and below is my experience with these products.

  • Quench Absolute Shampoo
This smells great, nice and light, not too overwhelming, and it’s very easy to use. The bottle design makes it easy to get the shampoo out. This is very smooth and creamy and it has a rich lather that i really like and it gets rid of buildup on scalp and hair easily and gentle enough. It left my hair feeling a tiny bit stripped but still a little moisturized, it didn't strip my hair nearly as much as other shampoos with sulfates but it gets your hair very clean which makes it a great clarifying shampoo, if that’s what you’re looking for. You can tell it infuses some moisture into your curls.

  • Quench Absolute Conditioner
This smells great and it has a very smooth, creamy consistency. It's easy and convenient to squeeze it out of the tube/bottle. It applies easily, coating my hair without being too heavy and it’s very soothing on my scalp despite the somewhat strong fragrance. It made my hair easy to de-tangle and manage but didn't make it noticeably softer. It did do a better job at softening than the mask and it seemed to be more nourishing. I feel like this did actually “nourish” and “quench” my curls and I love how the scent lingers for days. It's not a great conditioner but it is decent.

  • Quench Absolute Intensive Restoration Mask
This also smells wonderful and it’s easy to get it out of the round tub and apply yo wet hair. This is nice and rich but not too thick. It seems a little heavy but not too heavy, It’s very smooth, too. It didn't really seem to make my hair softer but it definitely seemed to add more moisture to my curls. I think this may have helped to reduce my drying time and it leaves my hair nice and shiny but with a weird, somewhat rough feeling when I run my fingers through it after I rinse it out, but that feeling goes away. It is a mask, not a deep conditioner, and you can tell the difference. I can tell it coats my hair more than it penetrates and nourishes and with that said, it's a great mask.

  • Quench Absolute Supreme Creme Serum
I absolutely love this serum. It’s easy to pump out of the bottle and it smells wonderful, light and soothing. It has a great creamy/slimy/sticky consistency that I really like and it applies soo smoothly onto my hair. It adds so much shine, moisture and silkiness and it’s very lightweight on my thin, 3b hair. It definitely reduces frizz and adds a nice fluff and volume to my hair that I love. It’s great on damp hair under other styling products. I have fine hair and I really don’t mind silicones and the silicone in this serum caused no problems. I actually had less buildup than usual, but silicones aren't for everyone, but my curls love this serum.
